Hello and Welcome to Learn Tarot Online.

This blog is for people who are interested in learning how to use the Tarot.

There are many reasons why you might want to learn how to understand and interpret the cards in a Tarot deck. They might include:

1) Curiosity and general interest.
2) Maybe you have got a deck and would like to use them.
3) For divination and fortune telling- for yourself or others- although it must be stressed that Tarot cards can only point towards expected outcomes, if you don’t make any changes in your life and they cannot override your free will.
4) Identifying limiting beliefs in your life and the past events that triggered them.
5) Developing Your Intuition or Creativity.
6) Exploring options and help with decision making
7) Understanding yourself and others

Whatever your reasons, you are very welcome.

We will be talking about different decks of cards, meanings and interpretations of cards, some do’s and don’ts with reading for yourself and for others and how you can use your deck of tarot cards as your friend in life, business and your own personal journey.

My name is Amanda Goldston and I have been reading Tarot cards for over 15 years now. I use them extensively in my Changing Lives Coaching programme to help people explore past, present, potential future issues and themselves.

I have looked at, and own, several different decks of cards. Yet, my personal favourite is still the deck I started with- the Rider Waite deck. I like this deck because it is easy to understand. It is not tied to a particular culture or myth or history and the pictures make interpretation easy for most people.

With abundant blessings.

I’ve been puttering around with the Tarot cards for years. I always wanted to learn, but I have always had such confusion about them. I’ve been taking things a little more serious lately and have been following a couple different lesson plans online. I still get confused and overwhelmed. There are a lot of cards, then there’s figuring out what they mean in a certain position in a spread, and then how about when they fall next to one another????? And that’s not to mention when a card falls in reverse…… What did you do to learn the tarot? What can I do to make it easier? I’m trying to learn from a couple of different sites because I like the way a lesson plan flows in one, but the meanings of the cards make more sense to me in another. Any suggestions?

    Hi Debbie,
    Great to hear from you.
I originally learnt the tarot about 15 years ago. I learnt using the Rider Waite deck which, in my opinion, is one of the easiest decks to work with because you can clearly see the pictures, the colours and the symbols. This makes it quite easy to work with because you don’t need to “learn” the meanings as such. You can literally let the cards speak to you.

For many decks, you have to understand the mythology or legend or culture that it is based on before you can properly use the cards.

I was taught to look at the colours, the pictures and what was actually going on in the card. When you do that, you can begin to build an impression of what the card represents.

Then I started to lay the cards next to each other and build up a story of what was going on, and how one card changed the energy of the card next to it. You start to allow your own intuition to come through and you find that you develop your own meanings for each card.

To make it easier, I would suggest you have a deck of cards that you feel really comfortable with, then lay the cards for each suit out side by side, so all the Major Arcana cards together, cups, wands etc and look at each card in turn.

See what you feel and what comes up for you. That will be right for you.

    What cards are you using?

    Hope this helps.
    With abundant blessings.
    Amanda
